All Star Pop Shoes, The Pop Abstract version of All Star shoes

The “All Star” birth of Pop Abstract Art

Warhol and Mondrian are making love as popular mundane and transcendent harmony infuse… then I joined in and a Pop Abstract orgy took shape.

I had the idea of incorporating some of Mondrian principles onto photographs, and so I started messing around with it. I took a photograph (shown in the sidebar) and started applying areas of primary colors onto the floor tiles. Suddenly I got to thinking that I am missing some black grid lines and so I divided the floor, staying in touch with the real image. I enhanced the white of the shoes to give them more prominence, and so on… But something was missing.

In the midst of dabbling around with the Photoshop layers, an “accident” occurred. A solid white color layer switched places with the original photo and a beautifully lucid and clean image of a 3D Mondrian abstract was revealed before me. I realized that this was the right direction, and after thanking the Source for inspiring me I got to illustrating the shoes as well.
The part of finding the right balance of primary colors, in terms of location, weight and frequency was the only part where I used my intellect a little bit.

A pop coma of abstract purposefulness

Sometimes we just want to be amused, sometimes pop is the deepest we can consume, and abstract is the best way for pop to be…

I am lecturing on the purpose and essence that must be infused into art and brought by it. I am a keen advocate of a message which is lucidly and intelligently conveyed by an artwork as it must be in graphic design. Characteristic artworks such as Vitruvian Man, Human God or typical articles such as The purpose of purposeful art clearly manifest my approach to “Modern Art”.

However, when it comes to pure inspiration, it’s hard to debate. Something told me that this is it. Anyway, one thing is for sure here: you will not find any intention, purpose or message behind the scenes of this artwork and this may apply to all the artworks that will populate the exhibition of pop abstract.

The God of small Things

We tend to believe that sanctity is lofty, we presume that immediacy is shallow, we disregard the benefits of Pop Abstract Art – I know I did…

Pop Abstract> is merely figurative depictions of the everyday. It is the casual routine poured into the abstract harmony that the De Stijl movement tried to achieve, it is the transformation of the mundane into the supra-mundane based on Mondrian’s ideal principles which have evolved into a vital and realistic practice.
Who said that the expression of harmony must be so abstract as to force us to gaze at vertical and horizontal lines, enclosing rectangles and squares? Ideal does not have to be so boring – perfection lies in the known also, God is within my All Star shoes as well…
