Ego killed the Radio Star
Radio Star is about the intrinsic fragility of stardom and the outer shell of the star – It’s where we wish to go and what we crave to worship – the prison of Ego, the mask of vanity.
I am torn between the tremendous craving of becoming a well polished Ego mirror of my own self, of achieving the status of recognition, appraisal and high esteem and between the considerably deeper but silent yearning for the tranquility of egolessness and solitude.
The radio star is lonely in his success, cynical and afraid. His certainty ans esteem are a shield covering over emptiness. He is a child, aspiring to become a man at best, and hiding beneath the blankets when strength runs out. He really does deserve a hug… If only someone could she all the pain and tears beneath that mask, that vanity mask of the star, that hollow voice emerging out of that radio…
