Vitruvian Man, Human God
Vitruvian Man – A god in your image
Even those among us who are still leaving some space for God within their inner worlds, mostly believe in a God which is a creation of their own and which reflects their egotistical desires and aspirations; a hideous combination between theocentricity and egocentricity.
That does not mean that this God necessarily emphasizes the physical perfection of its creators, but rather one that selects and molds, each according to his creator’s own capricious preferences – religious or non-religious – the laws and order of Creation, boundaries of morality and definitions of righteousness and falsehood.
This contradicts the healthy perception and experience of God as an infinite consciousness of absolute impartial awareness, penetrating yet embracing space and time, totally free from partial judgment and therefore not reacting to the dual conceptions, typical of beings which are torn by conflict and immersed in existential suffering.
Human god – A ruthless tyrant
A God who encourages inquisition, crucifixion, murder of prime ministers and suicide bombers, is surely a god who was created in the image of human beings possessed by essentially distorted spiritual perceptions and conceptions, derived by unrestrained (flames) emotions of jealousy (green heart) and aggressive intellects (blue brain) awash with prejudiced notions of hatred (cobra). As such, this god judges its creation with pettiness cruelty (scrutinizing rays) and is being allegedly placated by its ignorant creators via all those vapid religious ceremonies (religious paraphernalia).
A state of perpetual conflict
Indeed absurd is the situation, where the dark ignorance of man forces him to create an estranged reality for himself to begin with and turns him into a slave to his own hatred, when all he really wanted was to be unconditionally loved, as he is and always was.
I am the Vitruvian Man, creating a human god. I am still on their camp because I criticize. I criticize because I am disgusted. I am disgusted because I am afraid. I am afraid because that’s who I am.
And God is watching…
And this silence, which allows the sickening ignorance of Man, which absorbs all the evil, pettiness, jealousy and hatred deriving from that ignorance, which overlooks the destruction of all that exists with tanks of haughtiness and artillery of cynical self-worship, which does not react to the penetrating heresy and subversive skepticism, which contains all these and more to which we are totally unaware – precisely this silence, so humble, gentle and noble proves to me that there is a God. It proves to me that he can observe without any reaction only because he is full and complete with unfathomable love and compassion, for had he been even a fraction of that which we think him to be or of that which we try to turn him into, he probably would have incinerated us with the flames of inferno eras ago.
